Home      Spinal Decompression Therapy

Now comes the revolutionary technology to refine and harness the power and effectiveness of Decompression Therapy (DCT) - all without  surgery, injections, or medication. It is called Decompression Therapy (DCT). It represents the latest in the treatment of spine pain. It is cleared by the FDA. Most patients can have this therapy and go to work the same day. No rehabilitation is   mandatory. It is a great tool to treat work success rate of 85% to 95% compared to surgery, which is 33% to 50% successful. It even has a greater efficacy compared to Epidural injections, which generally only treats one level of the spine. The Computerized ability of Decompression Therapy allows for isolation of all injured discs, specifically targeting and treating each one individually and  repeatedly.

How is the procedure done?

You lay on the table on your back, listening to  music, taking a nap, or reading a book while the computerized table slowly and gently separates the two bones (Vertebrae) from compressing the targeted disc and pinching the nerve. This technique has been around for years. It is a safe, non-invasive technique that is FDA cleared. However, it has   recently been modernized through the use of  computers, allowing patients to actually enjoy the procedure in comfort.

The DCT treats the following problems that most chronic pain suffers have: Herniated discs, Bulging discs, Degenerated discs, Sciatica, Failed back  surgery, Low back pain, Chronic pain, Acute pain,  Extremity numbness, Extremity tingling, Sports injuries, Muscle Spasms, Buttock pain, Work  Injuries, Facet   Syndrome, Leg pain, Auto injuries, Neck pain, Headaches and Pinched nerve.

The disc is a gel-like cushion between the Vertebrae that functions as a shock absorber. The gel is contained in   band-like fibers can rupture with trauma, causing the gel to leak out and compress the close-by nerve. The sciatic nerve is the most common.

What is Sciatica?

A herniated disc or when a disc bulges it causes back pain that can pinch the delicate nerves that surround areas of the spine. The Sciatic nerve (hence the term Sciatica) is the most common nerve that causes the symptoms of Low back pain with the commonly associated symptoms of leg pain, buttock pain, radiating pain, tingling and numbness that shoots down your legs and possibly even into your toes.

How does healing take place?

When compression of the disc is relieved, oxygen, water and nutrients can now be better absorbed by the disc,    improving blood flow and natural healing.

Is the cure permanent?

Even though the disc may be permanently injured, the  leaking gel may be sealed off by strengthening of the      ligaments with DCT improving pain and helping to prevent further deterioration.

Is there pain or side effects?

NO, there are no side effects or pain associated with the procedure. There is little downside. The procedure is   gentle but if any discomfort develops the patients can stop the procedure with the press of a button. Many  patients fall asleep during treatments. It is also FDA approved.

How long does the procedure take? How many treatments?

Each treatment takes about 25 minutes. Many patients feel relief with only a few treatments as a result of a inflammation. However, this does not mean the disc problems is corrected. It takes about 20 to 30 visits over a 4 to 6 week period to allow the ligaments to be strengthened and protect the disc.

Most patients with back and neck pain are candidates. Some patients with a congenital bone problems, severe osteoporsis or severe arthritis may not be right for this therapy. The doctor will evaluate all patients before prescribing the therapy.

What about surgery? Is Decompression (DCT) better?

Open surgery has a significant failure rate, as high as 60% in some studies with high  risk. DCT is essentially risk-free with a high success rate for most neck and back problems. A very few patients will require surgery to resolve their problems but, even those few patients often times get temporary relief from DCT.

What do surgeons think about DCT?

The majority of medical doctors recommend DCT before resorting to surgery. Many surgeons, such as neurosurgeons and orthopedic surgeons also own DCT tables. Before I perform any invasive procedure, I recommend DCT wherever possible. Remember, “First, do no harm.”

How much does it cost to treat?

DCT costs a fraction of the cost of surgery, about $2,500 but, many insurance plans cover at least a part of that. Surgery costs about $50,000 to $60,000 for many neck or back operations. If you’re tired of suffering from neck or back pain call for a free consultation and see if you qualify.
